Fifty protected minutes, on a weekday, in the same room.
The Long Beach version of my couples page. What it adds is local: the schedules, the families twenty minutes away, and what being in one physical room does for an hour like this.
The main couples page describes who I work with, how I hold two people at once, and what I do rather than take sides. That is the page to read for how the work is structured.
Here I want to add what is specific to local couples: what the calendar looks like, what having both families nearby does to the conversation, and why the room is often worth the drive.
Three things I hear from couples who live in this city.
You have not had a real conversation since March
Two jobs, a commute each, a house that generates admin. The relationship gets whatever attention is left at nine forty.
Both families live within twenty minutes
Sunday obligations, borrowed opinions, and very little distance between your marriage and everyone else's view of it.
You would rather do this face to face
For couples who live locally, being in the same physical room changes what the hour can do.
Fees, format and the Park Ave office.
Couples sessions are 50 minutes at $225, in person at 192 Park Ave in Long Beach or by video anywhere in California. Sliding scale between $170 and $225 when the standard fee is the obstacle. Private pay, and I do not work with insurance.
Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours notice are charged in full, which matters more for couples work than individual, because two calendars are involved.
Timing, children and skepticism.
